Metropolis Technologies in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies team. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that integrate hardware with ML to understand the behavior of objects in the real world.

You'll work with a modern stack (AWS, Java, Scala, gRPC, Redis, MySQL, Kubernetes, Kafka) to deliver high-performance services. The role emphasizes real-time data processing, distributed systems, and collaboration across hardware

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience with Java and Scala.
• Experience building gRPC APIs.
• Strong database design with Redis and MySQL.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Ability to collaborate across Hardware, ML, and Operations teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/SE.

Responsibilities

• Build robust backend services in Java and Scala.
• Design and implement gRPC APIs for high-performance communication.
• Leverage Redis and MySQL for storage and retrieval with low latency.
• Deploy and manage microservices on Kubernetes for scalable systems.
• Work with Kafka for real-time data streaming and processing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems.
• Analyze and address bottlenecks to maintain reliability.
