Job summary

Basis Theory is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to build the infrastructure that powers tokenization, storage, and movement of sensitive data at scale, with strict compliance and high reliability. You’ll own platform components end-to-end from API design to production operations.

You’ll leverage AI tooling and deep technical expertise to ship faster, make strong design decisions, and build systems serving both traditional integrations and AI-native customers.

Qualifications

• Backend API-based systems experience.
• Strong problem-solving enabling full-stack contributions.
• Experience with REST API design and testing.
• Proficient in C# or Java for API development.
• Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate work.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship product features across tokenization platform and multi-tenant API infrastructure.
• Drive technical design decisions for complex systems balancing performance, compliance, and customer needs.
• Lead delivery of cross-cutting features end-to-end from design through production rollout.
• Own reliability and evolution of platform components, shipping improvements.
• Build APIs consumed by developers and AI agents with clear ergonomics.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and improve code quality.
• Collaborate with engineers through pairing, reviews, and guidance.
• Partner with customers, sales, and support to understand real-world usage and deliver solutions.
