Job summary

Adyen is seeking a Platform Engineer for the Container Services team in Chicago. You will design, build, and operate core infrastructure including Kubernetes-based orchestration and supporting systems across a global private cloud.

You will drive automation, reliability, and scalable operations, collaborating across time zones to ensure 24/7 availability and continuous improvement of platform modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or software engineering.
• Linux proficiency with system administration, networking, and security fundamentals.
• Hands-on Kubernetes at scale; cluster operations and troubleshooting.
• On-prem / bare-metal infrastructure and datacenter operations experience.
• Bash scripting and Python or Go for production tooling.
• Nice to have FinTech exposure and IaC at scale (Terraform, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core infrastructure including container orchestration (Kubernetes) and related infra across global private cloud.
• Develop tooling and automation for provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows.
• Own reliability: availability, performance, on-call participation, incident response, and postmortems.
• Collaborate with global platform engineers across time zones to run 24/7 infrastructure.
• Shape platform evolution with architectural decisions, technology evaluation, and modernization efforts.
