Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design scalable, self-service platform capabilities and GitHub-based DevOps automation. The role focuses on Kubernetes platforms, IaC, CI/CD modernization, and cloud-native engineering across hybrid and cloud environments.

You will implement GitOps workflows, enable self-service infrastructure provisioning, and drive platform reliability with observability and AI-powered tooling.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Architecture.
• Strong expertise with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, repository governance, and CI/CD automation.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes, including Amazon EKS and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud platforms in AWS.
• Proficiency in Python scripting.
• Experience implementing GitOps with ArgoCD.
• Understanding of security, RBAC, mTLS, and policy enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Design and build self-service platform capabilities for provisioning infrastructure with minimal support.
• Architect GitHub Enterprise-based DevOps platforms, governance, and branching models.
• Develop CI/CD solutions using GitHub Actions, GitOps, and IaC practices.
• Create reusable platform components and automation templates for provisioning and deployments.
• Build scalable Kubernetes-based platforms across cloud environments (AWS EKS, GKE).
• Automate infrastructure lifecycle with Terraform and cloud-native services.
• Drive observability using Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Collaborate on DevSecOps, policy automation, and compliance controls.
• Design disaster recovery, backup, and resilience strategies for mission-critical platforms.
• Implement GitOps deployment models using ArgoCD.
• Evaluate AI-powered platform engineering with AWS Bedrock, OpenSearch, and GenAI tech.
• Analyze deployment metrics and platform health to drive cost optimization and improvements.
• Support incident management and platform modernization initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance.
