Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer – GitHub DevOps & Cloud Automation to design scalable, self-service platform capabilities for faster software delivery and reduced ops overhead. You will champion GitHub Enterprise-based DevOps, Kubernetes platforms, IaC, and CI/CD modernization across hybrid and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps Engineering, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or Cloud Architecture.
• Strong expertise with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, repository governance, and CI/CD automation.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes including AWS EKS and GKE.
• Hands-on Terraform and IAC methodologies.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud platforms within AWS.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
• Experience implementing GitOps with ArgoCD.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, scalability, and resilience.
• Experience with observability tools: Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security automation.

Responsibilities

• Design self-service platform capabilities for provisioning infrastructure with minimal ops.
• Architect GitHub Enterprise-based DevOps platforms and governance models.
• Develop and maintain enterprise CI/CD using GitHub Actions, GitOps, and IaC.
• Create reusable platform components and automation workflows for provisioning and deployments.
• Build scalable Kubernetes platforms across cloud environments (AWS EKS, etc.).
• Automate lifecycle management using Terraform and cloud-native services.
• Improve platform reliability with observability using Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams on DevSecOps practices.
• Design disaster recovery and backup strategies for mission-critical platforms.
• Implement GitOps deployment models with ArgoCD to improve consistency.
• Explore AI-powered platform tooling (RAG, OpenSearch, GenAI) to boost productivity.
• Analyze deployment metrics and platform health to drive cost optimization.
