Job summary

Delta Dental of California is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance developer experience across the enterprise. This role spans backend, frontend, DevOps, and automation to build and evolve platforms, tools, and self-service capabilities that boost developer productivity and streamline the software lifecycle.

As part of the team, you will work on API portals, mock API platforms, feature management, and data platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design scalable solutions

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience focused on Platform Engineering and Developer Experience.
• Strong fundamentals: OO design, design patterns, distributed systems, API design.
• Proficiency in Java or JavaScript.
• Experience building cloud-native applications, preferably Azure.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with API technologies, OpenAPI, authentication, OAuth2, and JWT.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain developer platforms, tools, and services that improve engineering productivity and developer experience.
• Build and enhance strategic developer enablement solutions, including developer portals, Mock API platforms, Feature Management solutions, Internal Developer Platform (IDP) capabilities, and Data platforms.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, and product teams to identify developer pain points and implement scalable solutions.
• Design and implement reusable services, frameworks, APIs, libraries, automation, and self-service capabilities.
• Contribute to platform architecture, technical design, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Integrate security, observability, automation, and compliance capabilities into engineering platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation through proofs of concept and production-ready solutions.
• Continuously improve platform adoption, reliability, operational efficiency, and developer satisfaction.
