Job summary

satoriq is seeking a backend engineer to own the platform architecture, backend services, and the path from commit to production. You will work directly with the CTO, own production code, and shape engineering standards in a hands-on role.

You will be based in New York City, five days a week, joining a small, high-accountability team focused on scalable, multitenant infrastructure and enterprise-grade integrations.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Ability to reason about architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data flows, security, reliability, and tradeoffs.
• Experience operating systems in production with incidents and scale constraints.
• Broad ownership in an early-stage or high-growth company; Staff-level or founding experience is a plus.
• Ability to move between architecture and implementation and write production code.
• Strong communication and EQ; able to build trust across technical and nontechnical teams.
• Willingness to work on-site in New York City five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform architecture across tenants, identities, integrations, APIs, and data flows.
• Develop and review backend and platform code across services and internal tools.
• Own the path from commit to production: CI/CD, preview environments, testing infra, and release workflows.
• Define service boundaries, observability, and incident response for reliability.
• Provide technical direction, build-versus-buy decisions, and engineering standards.
• Identify customer-specific solutions to become shared platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with the CTO and forward-deployed engineers; troubleshoot production issues and travel as needed.
