Job summary

IR Labs, the innovation lab inside Integrated Research, seeks a Principal Platform Engineer to own the core platform and deliver reliable, scalable backend services for AI workloads.

You’ll ship APIs for signup, tenancy, billing, and provisioning, build paved roads to reduce engineering drag, and implement security, observability, and cost-aware multi-region patterns. Remote work from anywhere in the US is supported.

Qualifications

• Principal-level builder/operator experience.
• Backend engineering strength with production systems.
• Strong systems coding in Go and/or Rust.
• Kubernetes + cloud fluency (AWS).
• AI ops / GPU awareness and cost management.
• Reliability engineering mindset with SLIs/SLOs.
• Security-by-design fundamentals (identity, secrets, access).
• Automation-first execution across CI/CD and operations.
• Customer-facing technical judgment and clear communication.
• Ability to write design docs and trade-offs clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own the product platform and core services end-to-end.
• Ship backend systems: APIs for signup, tenancy, billing, provisioning.
• Create paved roads to reduce engineering drag and repeatable deployments.
• Protect the AI critical path by handling platform/ops/MLOps toil.
• Productionize AI workloads with GPU ops and scheduling strategies.
• Define and enforce SLIs/SLOs and incident practices.
• Embed security into platform primitives and patterns.
• Design multi-region resilience with cost discipline.
• Build observability dashboards and actionable metrics.
• Collaborate with ML/data/backend leadership to accelerate delivery.
