Job summary

Amazon Leo is developing a senior software development engineer role as a founding engineer on the Engineering and R&D team. You will own architecture decisions across the platform, ensuring our services are secure, scalable, and operationally simple.

You will build the distributed systems that carry the platform, from telemetry ingestion to real-time processing, in an environment where automated actions matter. You will mentor engineers and set standards for code quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of systems.
• Mentor/tech lead or team leadership experience.
• Experience with performance optimization and multi-threading.
• Experience building distributed, real-time systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture decisions across the platform with design guidance.
• Design and build distributed systems with real-time processing and observability.
• Lead automation and guardrails to prevent human error in high-consequence environments.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and drive code quality standards.
• Operate and maintain platform reliability, incident response, and health.
