Job summary

Amazon in Bellevue, WA seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer for Leo Security to join as a founding engineer on the Engineering and R&D team. You will own platform architecture across distributed systems, security, and real-time processing for threat detection and automated incident response at global scale.

You will mentor engineers, drive design reviews, and partner with researchers to turn prototypes into production capabilities, delivering secure, observable systems with low-latency

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 3+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Experience with performance optimization, including memory management, multi-threading, SIMD, cache coherence, and lock-free or zero-copy designs.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture decisions across the platform, providing system-wide design guidance and ensuring services are secure, scalable, and operationally simple.
• Design and build distributed systems for telemetry ingestion, real-time correlation, and observability.
• Drive automation to replace manual security operations and build evaluation and backtesting infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and set the standard for code quality across the team.
• Operates and maintains what you build, ensuring health, incident response, and reliability.
