Job summary

Reddit, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to design and build developer tooling, pipelines, and AI-powered workflows spanning backend systems, infrastructure, and CI/CD. You will collaborate with security, product teams, and other engineers to shape tooling that improves productivity at Reddit.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross‑team initiatives, and help Reddit scale its developer platforms, focusing on reliability, usability, and impact for hundreds of engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on, post‑graduate, non‑internship professional software development experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• 3+ years of industry experience with large-scale distributed systems, building and improving scalable services.
• Strong proficiency with Go and production Go.
• Experience designing APIs using GraphQL, REST, HTTP, or gRPC.
• Experience building platforms, developer tools, libraries, or internal systems used by engineers.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud providers, or related modern delivery systems.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑powered developer tools and workflows.
• Track record of leading large, cross‑team projects with clear ownership and pragmatic tradeoffs.
• User‑focused mindset with emphasis on usability, reliability, and quality.
• Excellent communication skills for technical direction and stakeholder alignment.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.
• Self‑directed, able to operate in ambiguity and drive work forward.

Responsibilities

• Work cross‑functionally to understand developer needs and prototype solutions quickly, iterating on feedback.
• Design and build backend systems, APIs, infrastructure, and platform capabilities that improve Reddit’s developer workflows.
• Build scalable and reliable AI-powered workflows and core non‑AI systems used daily by engineers.
• Lead high‑impact projects across Reddit’s developer tooling ecosystem, aligning stakeholders and making pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Create tools and integrations that connect workflows with Reddit’s CI/CD, security, and deployment infrastructure.
• Design maintainable APIs, services, and libraries that support internal tooling at scale.
• Improve tools, processes, and best practices to raise reliability, usability, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and help shape a roadmap aligned with real developer needs.
