Job summary

Reddit, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to design and build scalable developer tooling and AI-powered workflows. You will work across backend systems, infrastructure, and platform engineering to improve how Reddit engineers write, test, review, and ship code.

You will collaborate with teams responsible for CI/CD, security, and product systems, and mentor engineers while shaping a roadmap that delivers meaningful productivity improvements across Reddit’s engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development with backend/infrastructure/platform focus.
• 3+ years in large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency with Go in production environments.
• Experience designing APIs using GraphQL, REST, HTTP, or gRPC.
• Experience building platforms, developer tools, or internal systems for engineers.
• Experience with infrastructure, Kubernetes, and cloud providers.
• Hands-on with AI-powered developer tools and workflows.
• Led large, cross-team projects with clear ownership and delivery.
• User-focused mindset for internal engineering users, emphasizing usability and reliability.
• Excellent communication and mentorship abilities, guiding technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Understand developer needs across Reddit Engineering and prototype solutions quickly.
• Design and build backend systems, APIs, infrastructure, and platform capabilities for improved workflows.
• Develop scalable and reliable AI-powered and non-AI developer tooling.
• Lead high-impact projects by writing code, reviewing designs, and aligning stakeholders.
• Create tools and integrations connecting workflows with Reddit's CI/CD, security, source control, deployment, and operations.
• Design maintainable APIs, services, and libraries to support internal tooling at scale.
• Improve tools, processes, and best practices for reliability, usability, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and shape a roadmap based on genuine developer needs.
