Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and deliver backend services powering AI agent workflows and to help scale infrastructure for reliability and speed. You will own cloud infrastructure, contribute to CI/CD, and ensure high engineering standards across microservices.

The role emphasizes design decisions for scalability, collaboration with product and AI teams, and mentoring junior engineers in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems in production.
• Strong Python or equivalent backend language experience with distributed systems and cloud-native development.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL), caching/messaging (Redis), API design, and AWS with Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and progressive delivery patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend and platform services powering AI agent workflows.
• Contribute to CI/CD and progressive-delivery infrastructure for safe, continuous shipping.
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Make sound architectural decisions for scalable, reliable services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex multi-system projects.
• Uphold engineering standards: testing, observability, and on-call support.
