Freenome is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Platform team, shaping technical direction while staying hands-on in design, code, and operations. The role focuses on building scalable cloud services across a data lakehouse, compute, and self-service environments for research and analytics.

You will mentor engineers, champion AI adoption, and drive platform initiatives with a strong emphasis on reliability, cost awareness, and cross-team collaboration in a remote US setting with

Formación

• 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience on platform teams delivering complex systems from design to production.
• 3+ years guiding complex initiatives end-to-end across teams: aligning stakeholders and enabling delivery.
• 3+ years building and operating production platforms using Infrastructure as Code on a public cloud (Azure or GCP).
• Proficiency in Python and at least one other high-level programming language.
• Deep knowledge of Linux internals, networking and virtualization, with hands-on troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Solid Kubernetes expertise, including controllers, operators, CRDs, admission control, scheduling, autoscaling, service mesh, or multi-cluster networking.
• Strong software architecture leadership: write clear design docs and ADRs, and guide reviews and technical decisions.
• You are a force multiplier who helps engineers grow and enables teams to become more independent.
• Experience partnering with data science/AI/ML or related domains to improve workflows.
• Hands-on AI-assisted development and building reusable tools or workflow automation.

• Shape Platform’s technical vision and roadmap with engineering and R&D leads.
• Treat Platform and Data as Products by translating domain needs into reusable platform solutions.
• Design and ship scalable platform systems and evolve architecture through prototyping and reviews.
• Drive business-critical initiatives, balance tradeoffs, and delegate to scale execution.
• Support platform users, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve reliability and capacity.
• Champion AI adoption across Freenome and empower teams with AI-powered tools.
• Expand platform impact by building AI-ready capabilities and agentic workflows.
• Improve cloud cost visibility and drive cost-saving initiatives without sacrificing performance.
• Grow engineers through pairing, reviews, and mentoring while upholding Freenome values.
