Job Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Container Orchestration Platform Engineering team (COP), helping the organization transform into a truly modern cloud-native mode of operation. The goal of COP team is to reduce friction in the delivery process and improve developer experience. Technical prowess, pragmatic strategic understanding, and ability to make compromises working with the stakeholders are the 3 pillars of this job.

The Senior Platform Engineer will be working closely with the Sr Manager of Platform Engineering, COP Architect, COP Technical Product Owner (TPO), and COP Tech Lead to ensure sound technical direction.

The Senior Platform Engineer will be expected to provide guidance on DevOps practices and tools as well as Azure cloud resources. In addition, this position will mentor team mates and serve as an escalation point for the COP team and the COP platform.

What you'll do

• Embrace the AvidXchange culture and be a positive force for the team
• Contribute to the strategic planning and direction for automation and governance of the COP platform
• Embrace and evangelize automation, infrastructure as code, policy as code, and developer enablement
• Lead technical implementations leveraging the team architect
• Be able to work independently and present results back to the COP team during Agile ceremonies
• Assist both the COP team and COP adopters with platform features and enablement.
• Represent platform capabilities at delivery ceremonies (for example: Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Change Approval Board (CAB))
• Drive forensic troubleshooting and analysis of automation and platform consistency issues
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems, resource, and infrastructure availability and performance optimization
• Evangelize cloud-native practices and methodologies to delivery teams
• Provide subject matter expertise for all aspects of our technology stack

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience in a Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cloud-Native Engineering, DevOps Engineering or Advocacy role
• Expertise with containers and container orchestration, particularly Kubernetes, Docker and containerd.
• Strong Scripting Experience with Bash, Powershell, and/or Python
• Expertise practicing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code techniques
• Expertise managing multiple code bases in Git
• Expertise creating Continuous Integration build and deployment automation, for example CI/CD Pipelines
• Expertise building and supporting production cloud-native applications in a major public cloud
• Expertise implementing observability, application monitoring, and log aggregation solutions
• Expertise working with cross functional teams to provide DevOps inspired solutions

Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a computing related field or equivalent experience
• Familiarity writing and maintaining production code with an industry standard programming languages (.Net, Go, or Java) using Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Dynatrace, Prometheus and/or Grafana
• Experience with .Net core, PowerShell, Azure
• Experience with ArgoCD
• Experience in a financial organization
• Azure or AWS Certifications
