Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with our client in the financial industry located in Concord, CA. This is a 12+ month contract position.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant streaming data platforms using Apache Kafka and Apache Flink.
2. Lead architectural decisions and define best practices for real-time data processing and delivery.
3. Develop and maintain self-service infrastructure patterns and tools for internal team usage.
4. Optimize system performance, reliability, and observability in Kubernetes-based environments.
5. Drive infrastructure as code practices and automate deployment workflows using Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
6. Collaborate with data and engineering teams to support analytics, ML, and operational system use cases.
7. Champion platform reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency across public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
8. Mentor junior engineers and help shape the technical roadmap for the platform.

Required Qualifications:

1. 7+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work, consulting, training, military, or education.
2. 7+ years of experience in backend/platform engineering with a focus on distributed systems.
3. Deep expertise in Apache Kafka (Kafka Streams, Connect) and Apache Flink (DataStream API, state management, CEP).
4. Hands-on experience managing workloads in Kubernetes environments.
5. Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, or Python.
6. Solid experience with cloud-native technologies and services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
7. Proficiency with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
8. Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or similar.
9. Strong communication skills and the ability to drive technical initiatives across teams.

Pay Range:

$100,000 - $110,000
