Job Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be a key member of the Container Orchestration Platform Engineering team (COP), helping the organization transition to a modern cloud-native operating model. The COP team aims to streamline delivery processes and enhance developer experience. Success in this role depends on technical expertise, strategic pragmatism, and stakeholder collaboration.

You will work closely with the Sr Manager of Platform Engineering, COP Architect, COP Technical Product Owner (TPO), and COP Tech Lead to ensure sound technical direction. Responsibilities include guiding DevOps practices, mentoring team members, and serving as an escalation point for platform issues.

What You'll Do

1. Embrace AvidXchange culture and foster a positive team environment
2. Contribute to strategic planning for automation and governance of the COP platform
3. Promote automation, infrastructure as code, policy as code, and developer enablement
4. Lead technical implementations with architectural guidance
5. Work independently and present results during Agile ceremonies
6. Assist teams with platform features and enablement
7. Represent platform capabilities at delivery ceremonies (e.g., ARB, CAB)
8. Troubleshoot automation and platform consistency issues
9. Ensure high system availability and performance optimization
10. Advocate cloud-native practices and methodologies
11. Provide expertise on technologies such as Terraform, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes/AKS/EKS, CI/CD, Git management
12. Participate in on-call rotations

What We're Looking For

1. 10+ years in Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, SRE, Systems Engineering, Cloud-Native Engineering, DevOps, or related roles
2. Expertise with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, containerd)
3. Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
4. Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code
5. Proficiency in managing multiple Git repositories
6. Experience creating CI/CD pipelines
7. Experience supporting production cloud-native applications in major clouds
8. Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and log aggregation tools
9. Ability to work with cross-functional teams on DevOps solutions

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
2. Experience with industry-standard programming languages (.Net, Go, Java) and Agile methodologies
3. Familiarity with Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana
4. Experience with .Net Core, PowerShell, Azure, ArgoCD
5. Experience in financial organizations
6. Azure or AWS certifications
