Job summary

Robinhood in Menlo Park, CA is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to own the architectural evolution of Core Infrastructure, shaping multi-region expansion and platform reliability. You will lead the design of service mesh, compute platform, and Terraform provisioning while collaborating across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals: API server, controller reconciliation, etcd watch propagation, scheduler mechanics, admission control.
• Istio/Envoy knowledge at code level including xDS API and control-plane/data-plane boundary.
• HTTP/2 and gRPC wire-level understanding and observability.
• Terraform at architectural scale: modules, providers, remote state, multi-region provisioning.
• Production-grade Go or Python for infrastructure tooling.
• Ability to drive cross-functional architectural change across large teams.

Responsibilities

• Own service mesh architecture end-to-end for Istio/Envoy and multi-region operations.
• Drive Kubernetes compute platform evolution including cluster lifecycle and scheduling.
• Redesign Terraform provisioning to enable rapid region provisioning and developer autonomy.
• Diagnose issues at Kubernetes API machinery, etcd, Envoy xDS, and Terraform provider layer.
• Define technical direction and lead reviews across Robinhood's engineering org.
