Robinhood is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for Core Infrastructure in Bellevue, WA. You will own the architectural evolution of service mesh, compute platform, and infrastructure provisioning to support 24/7 trading and global expansion.

This is a hands-on, platform-wide role requiring deep Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, and Terraform expertise, with a focus on scalable, multi-region infrastructure. In-person work is expected at least 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on Kubernetes internals knowledge including API server, controller reconciliation, etcd watch propagation, scheduler mechanics.
• Deep knowledge of Istio/Envoy at code level and xDS API; debugging across control-plane/data-plane.
• HTTP/2 and gRPC wire-level concepts including connection management and observability.
• Terraform at scale: modules, providers, remote state, multi-region provisioning.
• Production Go or Python for infra tooling; well-structured, tested code.
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional architectural change across large teams.

Responsibilities

• Own service mesh architecture end-to-end and standardize Istio/Envoy deployment.
• Drive Kubernetes compute platform evolution for cluster lifecycle and multi-region resiliency.
• Redesign Terraform provisioning to enable rapid region provisioning and developer autonomy.
• Diagnose Kubernetes API machinery, etcd, Envoy xDS, and Terraform provider issues.
• Lead design reviews, produce architecture proposals, and align across teams on infra decisions.
