Job summary

Wagmo is seeking a Principal Engineer to own the application architecture across insurance, claims, and partner integration. You will drive technical direction with latitude, impacting two squads without direct reports. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on coding and broad cross-team influence.

Qualifications

• Depth in Python and Django with production systems.
• Experience owning cross-cutting architectural decisions.
• Ability to design scalable interfaces across teams.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and GCP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the end state of Wagmo's insurance provider interface, including legacy path retirement.
• Design onboarding to configure new benefits admins without code.
• Lead architecture review, log decisions, and unblock squads.
• Define identity architecture across enterprise SSO, partner portal, and consumer auth.
• Own architecture of AI systems: prompts, versions, and cost per decision.
• Mentor tech leads while avoiding people management duties.
