Job summary

The City of Brooksville is seeking a Plant Operator II to oversee the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of its drinking-water and wastewater facilities. You will perform complex tasks, provide guidance to Operator I staff, and participate in emergency responses, including nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications include an Associate degree in water/wastewater technology (preferred) and at least three years of plant operation experience, with supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred for the role.
• Three or more years of water/wastewater plant operations experience, including supervisory or lead duties.
• Experience with advanced troubleshooting, process optimization, and regulatory reporting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot water and wastewater plants to ensure regulatory compliance and efficiency.
• Supervise Plant Operator I staff, including training and performance feedback.
• Plan and document preventative maintenance programs for equipment and systems.
• Respond to emergencies and on-call procedures per city SOPs.
• Maintain logs, regulatory reporting, and equipment performance evaluations.
