Job summary

City of Brooksville, FL is seeking a Utilities Technician to support water construction, repair, maintenance, and installation of water systems. The role requires independent judgment and outdoor work in all weather, with on-call rotation and potential night/weekend shifts.

Responsibilities include servicing pumps, meters, valves, and related equipment, while ensuring safety, record-keeping, and effective supervision of junior Utilities Technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• FWPCOA Distribution Level III Certification required or equivalent.
• Confined Space and Trenching/Shoring certs required within one year.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical/mechanical components in water systems.
• Inspects equipment and logs readings and maintenance needs.
• Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, and control systems; reads schematics and blueprints.
• Adheres to safety procedures and directs traffic around work sites.
• Orders materials and maintains inventory for assigned work orders.
• Maintains detailed records of work performed and equipment used.
