Job summary
American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Plant Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support for safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. You will monitor performance, drive reliability improvements, troubleshoot issues, manage documentation, and coordinate with operations, maintenance, and vendors.
The role requires a ABET-accredited engineering degree with 2+ years of experience; a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred and a Master’s degree may qualify for
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program
- Minimum two years of related engineering experience; master’s degree may qualify for higher level
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support and technical execution for plant operations and maintenance.
- Diagnose equipment and system issues and implement timely corrective actions.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis to improve reliability.
- Monitor plant data, turbine performance, and efficiency to identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain configuration control and technical documentation, including MOC processes.
- Support capital projects and coordinate with vendors and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory codes (e.g., NERC) and audit readiness.
