Lumen is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to apply approved technologies to growth needs and ensure best-in-class experience for customers within their territory. This role supports multiple business units across the U.S. and is a work-from-home position.

The position emphasizes ownership, performance, security, and resilience in AI-ready connectivity, with opportunities to lead market strategies and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 6+ years in telecommunications planning or related field.
• Experience with ISP/OSP equipment and designs.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience with geospatial design tools (ArcGIS/AutoCAD/Google Earth).

Responsibilities

• Develop plans for implementing new OSP/ISP plant construction or modifications.
• Monitor network capacity trends and advise leadership on actions and costs.
• Define market-level strategy for 3–5 year product/tech transformation.
• Coordinate with Transport, Core Wave, Field Operations, and others.
• Prepare plans/specs and gather field data for economical solutions.
• Oversee installation/construction and testing of plant facilities.
