Job summary

Honolulu is seeking a Planner VI in the Department of Community Services to plan, implement, and oversee programs funded by federal, state, and City resources. The role involves working with public agencies, nonprofits, and community partners to serve homelessness and at-risk populations.

You will manage complex projects from development through closeout, monitor budgets and compliance, prepare reports, and help develop new housing and revitalization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education and experience substantially equivalent to a degree in city planning, economics, sociology, or public administration.
• Four years of professional work experience in city planning or related planning activities.
• Three years of professional work experience in social planning, socio-economic research, or community action projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts with nonprofit organizations and partners.
• Manage federally, state, and City-funded projects, including HUD programs.
• Review invoices, budgets, expenditure reports, and other financial documents.
• Monitor contractors for compliance with contracts, funding rules, performance standards, and reporting.
• Prepare financial reports, project budgets, closeout documentation, and other analytical reports.
• Coordinate with government agencies and partners to improve service delivery.

Education

Bachelor's degree / higher in city planning / economics / sociology / public administration

Four years of professional planning experience

Three years in social planning / community programs
