Job summary

State of Washington’s Department of Commerce seeks a Senior Planner (COM3) in the Growth Management Services unit. You will review plans, provide technical assistance, and support planning goals for Western Washington communities. Expect travel to jurisdictions statewide as needed.

The role emphasizes strong knowledge of Washington’s Growth Management Act, contract management, and collaboration with local governments and tribal and civic partners.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of combined experience and/or education as described in the posting.
• Experience with state or federal requirements and contract management.
• Education in urban or regional planning; substitution rules apply.

Responsibilities

• Review comprehensive plans, critical areas ordinances, and development regulations and provide technical assistance.
• Draft plan review comments and communicate feedback to local governments.
• Travel within Western Washington and coordinate with jurisdictions and stakeholders.
