Job summary

The State of Washington invites applications for Climate Operations Team Supervisor (COM 5) within the Local Government Division. This leadership role oversees climate planning grant programs, rulemaking, and staff tasked with implementing the Growth Management Act’s climate provisions across the state.

You will supervise a professional team, coordinate with local governments and agencies, and ensure contracts, reports, and performance data meet state requirements.

Qualifications

• 8 years of combined experience and/or education in planning, policy, or related field.
• Knowledge of WA planning acts and environmental acts.
• Experience coordinating with public officials and departments.
• Strong data collection and analysis skills.
• Ability to review policies, rules, and laws.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead climate planning grant programs and rulemaking.
• Coordinate plan review and monitor climate plan adoption statewide.
• Manage contracts and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Oversee grant program development and outreach to applicants.
• Prepare executive reports and summaries for leadership.
