Job summary

The City of Bastrop is seeking a knowledgeable and highly motivated Senior Planner to join our Development Services Team. This on-site role requires regular in-office attendance and collaboration with staff, elected officials, developers, and the public.

The Senior Planner will support the community's growth, redevelopment, and long-range planning through research, analysis, and reporting, leading development reviews and guiding property owners in collaboration with staff and boards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Geography, Community Development, Historic Preservation Architecture, or related field.
• Three or more years of experience in urban planning, neighborhood engagement, or historical preservation.
• FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses completed within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead Pre-Application meetings, review development cases, and provide staff determinations.
• Prepare staff reports and presentations for boards and City Council.
• Coordinate historic preservation activities with agencies and the public.
• Develop SOPs and manage records and GIS data.
• Support long-range planning, downtown planning, and historic preservation efforts.
