Job summary

Referment is partnering with a global financial services firm to appoint a Senior Planner within its global events function. You will guide projects from concept to delivery, owning venues, contracts, production, registration, speakers, agendas and event materials while coordinating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

The role reports to the Head of Global Events and requires strong organizational skills to keep multiple contributors aligned and deliver within scope.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of relevant event or meeting planning experience.
  • Experience with venue sourcing, specifications and supplier coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage concurrent deadlines.
  • Confident negotiation, problem-solving and stakeholder relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative and service-focused.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Source venues, issue RFPs and review contracts with hotels and venues.
  • Prepare meeting specifications and review banquet event orders for accuracy.
  • Coordinate production, signage, transport, décor and other suppliers.
  • Manage speaker communications and event agendas, handling changes diplomatically.
  • Prepare name badges and other event collateral.
  • Review and test registration journeys in Cvent and proofread event copy.
  • Collaborate with design, marketing and central teams on branding and updates.
  • Contribute to strategic projects and support virtual events when needed.

Job description

Referment is working with a global financial services business to appoint a Senior Planner within its global events function. The team delivers a varied portfolio of events that support the firm's brand and marketing activity, working with internal stakeholders, business partners and specialist external suppliers.

Reporting to the Head of Global Events, you will guide projects from initial concept through delivery. The role carries practical ownership across venues, contracts, production, registration, speakers, agendas and event materials, with responsibility for keeping multiple contributors aligned and ensuring details are delivered on time and within scope.

The Role
  • Source venues, issue requests for proposals and review hotel, venue and supplier contracts.
  • Prepare meeting specifications and review banquet event orders to ensure plans are accurate and executable.
  • Coordinate production, signage, transport, décor and other suppliers throughout delivery.
  • Manage speaker communications and event agendas, resolving changes and expectations diplomatically.
  • Prepare name badges, table materials and other practical event collateral as required.
  • Review and test event-registration journeys in Cvent and proofread event copy for accuracy.
  • Partner with graphic design, event marketing and central marketing colleagues on branding, signage and event updates.
  • Contribute to strategic projects within the events function and provide backup support for virtual events when needed.
What We're Looking For
  • Five to eight years of relevant event or meeting-planning experience, with evidence of managing delivery from concept to completion.
  • Working knowledge of common meeting-industry practices, venue sourcing, specifications and supplier coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and judgement across concurrent deadlines.
  • Confident negotiation, problem-solving and relationship-building skills with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative and service-focused.
  • Comfort with Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Practical Requirements And Desirable Experience

The position works four days per week on site and one remotely, and requires 30–35% travel. Candidates must be able to sit, stand or walk for a full working day and lift up to 30 pounds. Experience with Cvent, Dynamics or proofreading would be useful, and a bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience is requested.
