Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Security Platform Engineering group. You will lead cryptographic infrastructure, ensuring highly available PKI services and secure key management across internal and external partners.

The role requires deep PKI expertise, strong systems programming in Golang (or similar), and a track record of delivering secure, low-latency infrastructure in regulated environments. Remote-friendly with quarterly in-person sessions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with distributed systems experience.
• Deep PKI and cryptography experience, including certificate issuance, renewal, revocation and trust chains.
• Proficiency in Golang, Java, C++, or Rust in a Golang-heavy environment.
• Proven track record leading technical strategy, architecture and delivery for large-scale projects.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into robust engineering solutions.
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight to improve workflow, cost and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and execution of cryptographic infrastructure.
• Define technical strategies with a multi-quarter horizon for novel cryptographic solutions.
• Own ambitious initiatives, implementing secure protocols in a zero-trust environment.
• Mentor a team of senior engineers, enforcing rigorous code reviews and eliminating single points of failure.
• Coordinate with Security, Product and Policy to drive flawless execution.
