Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the cryptographic and PKI platforms that underpin our certificate management and security services. You will build high-availability systems and own strategic cryptographic solutions in a zero-trust environment.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive code quality, and align cross-functionally with Security, Product, and Policy to ensure secure, resilient delivery of critical capabilities for Coinbase.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with distributed systems.
• Deep PKI and cryptography with CA operations and X.509 lifecycle management.
• Golang-heavy environment experience with systems languages such as Java, C++, or Rust.
• Experience leading technical strategy for large-scale projects with regulatory requirements.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and execution of critical cryptographic infrastructure.
• Define technical strategies with a multi-quarter horizon; clarify ambiguous requirements.
• Own risky initiatives, implementing secure cryptographic protocols in a zero-trust environment.
• Shape engineering quality practices; mentor engineers, drive rigorous code reviews, eliminate single points of failure.
• Build alignment with Security, Product, and Policy to drive flawless execution.
