Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in the Security Platform Engineering group to lead cryptographic infrastructure and scalable certificate management. You will build high‑availability services for internal and external use, focusing on secure key handling and trust chains.

You will define technical strategies across multi‑quarter horizons, own ambitious initiatives, and mentor peers to improve engineering quality in a zero‑trust environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with highly available, distributed systems experience.
• Deep PKI and cryptography expertise, including certificate lifecycles and trust chains.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, C++, or Rust, with Go heavy environment experience.
• Experience with Tier-0 infrastructure requiring low latency and strong security.
• Leadership in technical strategy and cross‑functional delivery under regulatory needs.
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and execution of critical cryptographic infrastructure.
• Define strategies with a multi‑quarter horizon for novel cryptographic solutions.
• Own ambitious initiatives, implementing secure protocols in a zero‑trust environment.
• Mentor engineers and drive rigorous code reviews to eliminate single points of failure.
• Coordinate with Security, Product, and Policy to ensure flawless execution.
