Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Security Platform Engineering group to lead cryptographic infrastructure and PKI initiatives. You will design high-availability services, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with Security, Product, and Policy teams to ensure secure, scalable delivery.

You'll work in a remote-first environment with quarterly in-person surges, and be part of a company that values security, speed, and transparency in building the future of finance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building highly available distributed systems.
• Expertise in PKI, X.509 lifecycle management, and protecting private keys with HSMs or Cloud KMS.
• Experience in Golang, Java, C++, or Rust, with emphasis on Golang.
• Proven track record operating Tier-0 or highly critical infrastructure with low latency and strong security.
• Experience leading technical strategy and architecture for large-scale projects amid regulatory requirements.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and execution of cryptographic infrastructure.
• Define technical strategies with a multi-quarter horizon for cryptographic solutions.
• Own secure and resilient cryptographic protocols in a zero-trust environment.
• Mentor engineers and drive rigorous code reviews to eliminate single points of failure.
• Align with cross-functional teams (Security, Product, Policy) to drive flawless execution.
