Job summary

Holtec International in Camden, NJ is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to lead the development and delivery of complete piping systems for SMR projects. The role integrates piping activities from P&IDs through stress analysis, material selection, welding considerations, procurement, and construction coordination.

Required are 10+ years in piping for complex projects, knowledge of ASME codes, and strong coordination across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
• 10+ years of piping experience on water, steam, and gas systems for power generation, naval nuclear, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of piping codes (ASME B&PV, ASME B31.1 and B31.3) and related drawings, materials and installation practices.
• Experience coordinating complete piping systems from design through fabrication and installation.
• Experience performing technical bid evaluations and vendor management.
• Knowledgeable about pipe stress analysis and pipe support design.
• Ability to interface effectively with multiple engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and computer skills.
• Eligible to work in accord with Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
• Commercial PWR plant experience preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate translation of P&IDs, system requirements, design criteria, and equipment data into complete piping designs.
• Develop and coordinate piping material class code specifications and select materials based on project requirements and corrosion factors.
• Ensure line lists, piping classes, design pressures/temperatures, materials, insulation, and testing requirements are consistent and appropriate.
• Develop and refine piping design requirements.
• Coordinate layouts and routing considering operability, maintainability, constructability, drainage, venting, seismic, and interfaces.
• Review isometric drawings and bills of materials.
• Coordinate with pipe stress and support engineering; with valves, specialty items, and equipment engineers.
• Support procurement by developing purchase specifications and evaluating vendor documentation.
• Oversee material delivery, pipe spool fabrication, vendor documentation, inspection and testing; resolve technical issues with piping vendors.
• Support construction from planning to installation, field changes, testing and turnover.
• Lead interdisciplinary piping design reviews and resolve interfaces across systems and disciplines.
