Job summary

Holtec in Camden, NJ is seeking a Systems Design Engineer III to lead the design, development, and integration of complex plant systems for the SMR-300 program. You will coordinate with engineering disciplines and provide technical leadership to other engineers, influencing licensing readiness and overall plant design.

This on-site role requires coordinating across multiple teams, conducting design reviews, and mentoring engineers while ensuring compliance with codes and standards throughout the

Qualifications

• BS in an engineering discipline; advanced degree considered for experience.
• Proven ability to independently lead complex system design and integration.
• Experience documenting system requirements, design bases, and calculations.
• Experience coordinating cross‑disciplinary interfaces with vendors and licensing teams.
• Familiarity with nuclear design software and lifecycle management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and integration of complex plant systems for SMR-300.
• Review engineering calculations and analyses for thermal-hydraulic, mechanical, and process design.
• Develop system design documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Manage system requirements and design bases across cross‑disciplinary teams.
• Coordinate among component, mechanical, civil, electrical, I&C, and licensing groups.
• Lead technical reviews of drawings, vendor docs, and calculations.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineers; lead design reviews.
• Support licensing activities with technical information and defense of design choices.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and configuration management.
