Job summary

System One in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Sr. Piping Designer/Checker for a contract-to-hire role. The position entails producing piping design layouts, leading design teams as DDL/PDL, and coordinating scope, budget, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline, piping focus preferred.
• 4+ years piping design and layout experience; 2+ years at Matrix preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of CADWorx, PDMS, or AVEVA; AVEVA highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of piping, mechanical drafting, fabrication, purchasing, and field construction processes.
• Familiar with P&ID diagrams, vendor drawings, and piping details.
• Knowledge of API, ANSI, ASME piping codes and standards.
• Detail oriented with strong accuracy in work.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce design layouts and drawings for piping systems with accuracy.
• Lead internal and external designers/drafters as DDL/PDL.
• Assist with scope, budget, and schedule for projects.
• Participate in meetings and communicate with team and stakeholders.
• Perform dimensional checks and BOM verifications.
• Check drawings for constructability, safety, and QA.
• Support safety initiatives and Code of Business Conduct.
• Coordinate project resources within scope, budget, schedule.
• Assist lower classification drafters with questions.
• Perform additional duties as directed.
