Job summary

Dewberry Engineers Incorporated is seeking a Senior Physical Electrical Engineer to lead the growth of our HV substation design practice in Nashville. You will mentor a high-performing team and deliver impactful projects for utilities, government entities, and private institutions.

Role includes technical leadership, design standards development, and collaboration with the Energy PMO to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence across complex projects.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering is required.
• 20+ years of experience in medium/high voltage substation design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience leading engineering/design staff and project management.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA Life Safety Codes and related standards.
• Strong verbal/written interpersonal skills for client coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of medium/high voltage substations and supervise drawings.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage project budgets.
• Develop responses to proposals and manage client relations.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and establish standards.
• Ensure safety, operability, and constructability in designs.
• Oversee quality control and adherence to design schedules.
