Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a skilled Physical Design Engineer to join the DSPIC Physical Design team. You will drive hierarchical, low-power microcontroller SOC designs from floorplanning through GDSII, ensuring robust sign-off.

The role requires a BE/BEng or ME in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in physical design, expertise with Innovus or Fusion Compiler, Calibre, and HDL (Verilog/VHDL). Travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years hands-on physical design experience with low-power flows.
• Proficiency in place and route, scripting, and HDL (Verilog/VHDL).

Responsibilities

• Conduct floorplanning and die size estimation for complex SoCs.
• Perform placement, routing, clock tree synthesis, and timing closure.
• Lead power integrity, IR drop, and EM sign-off for reliable delivery.
• Develop PD flows, verify DRC/LVS, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
