Job summary

Arkstone is a healthcare technology company seeking a Senior Backend Feature Developer to accelerate delivery of new product capabilities across our core API platform.

You will own feature implementation end-to-end, collaborate with product stakeholders, and help shape scalable backend architecture in a remote-first environment.

Develop backend services with Laravel/PHP, deliver APIs backed by MySQL, and mentor teammates while prioritizing reliability and high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong production experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Strong SQL and data modeling experience with MySQL.
• Experience designing and operating scalable APIs and asynchronous processing systems.
• Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools (AI-assisted development agents).
• Security-minded engineering practices and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Laravel and PHP.
• Deliver new APIs, business logic, and workflow enhancements backed by MySQL.
• Own feature development end-to-end, from design through production.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure clean API contracts and integration.
• Improve system performance and reliability in queue- and event-driven workflows.
• Write and maintain automated tests for delivered features.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews and pairing.
• Use modern AI/agentic coding workflows to increase velocity and quality.
