Job summary

Housecall is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer with deep PHP/Laravel experience to lead core platform services for a health care AI-enabled platform. You will partner with product, frontend, and mobile teams to deliver features, improve performance, and raise engineering standards.

You will own backend initiatives end-to-end, architect and maintain services and REST APIs, and drive security, testing, and reliability across the codebase and delivery pipeline.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production backend systems.
• 3+ years with PHP and Laravel.
• Strong relational database expertise (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Strong API design experience (versioning, auth, pagination).
• Strong testing mindset (unit/feature/integration).
• Experience with production operations: debugging, monitoring, incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own backend initiatives end-to-end: discovery, design, delivery, rollout.
• Architect, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs (Laravel/PHP).
• Improve performance, reliability, and security practices across the stack.
• Design data models, migrations, and ensure data integrity in MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and mobile teams; mentor engineers.
