Job summary

Scale Army Careers is seeking a PHP Developer to own backend features in a mature Laravel codebase, from requirements through deployment and production monitoring. This fully remote role focuses on building reliable integrations with external platforms and ensuring data quality across multi-tenant systems.

You will design asynchronous processing workflows, implement robust retry and idempotency strategies, and collaborate across teams to deliver high-performance APIs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience.
• 3+ years PHP and Laravel experience.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with queues and asynchronous processing.
• Senior-level debugging and system design ability.

Responsibilities

• Own backend features end to end, including requirements, schema changes, development, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Develop and maintain backend functionality within a mature PHP/Laravel application.
• Design solutions that remain reliable and scalable across a high-volume, multi-tenant SaaS environment.
• Take ownership of technical outcomes rather than focusing solely on framework-level implementation.
• Identify recurring technical issues and proactively recommend improvements to platform architecture, reliability, and performance.
