Hospitable, a remote-only, fully distributed company, is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to maintain momentum and stability across our Core & Growth platforms. You will deepen the Laravel/PHP/MySQL stack, ship features, and improve customer experiences for thousands of users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, backend focus.
• Significant experience with Laravel, PHP 7+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in a deployed web app.
• Hands-on with agentic coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) in production codebase.
• An eye for testable, maintainable, and intuitive code, with customer/value focus.
• Ability to think through non-obvious usage scenarios and ripple effects in complex systems.
• Strong written communication and self-motivation in a remote setup.
• Experience with queue/job-centric backends is a plus.
• Experience with data ingestion from third-party APIs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Dive into our foundational codebase to develop new features and maintain existing ones.
• Collaborate with product, sales, customer success, and other engineers to ship features.
• Work within a monolithic codebase on a Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
• Implement and use observability tooling to track post-deployment.
• Refactor core platform code for readability, maintainability, and testability.
