Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log.
• Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity by aseptic technique and procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens with dates and times; maintains tallies.
• Maintains quality results by following testing schedules and logs.
• Ensures a safe work environment and compliance with regulations.
• Resolves unusual test orders by informing physicians or pathways for clarification.
• Keeps job knowledge up to date through education and professional involvement.
• Participates in PHI privacy training and HIPAA/PHI compliance.
• Manages patient reports logistics and handles billing triage questions.
