Job summary

Natera is seeking a Sr Phlebotomist for an onsite role in Hazelwood, Missouri. The successful candidate will identify optimal blood collection methods, prepare specimens, and perform screening procedures following hospital standards.

Responsibilities include verifying requisitions, obtaining specimens via venipuncture and finger sticks, maintaining specimen integrity, and reporting results. Prior phlebotomy experience and relevant certifications are required or preferred per state rules.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• BS/BA degree preferred.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Phlebotomy Certificate (if required by State)

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log.
• Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique and following procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection.
• Maintains quality results by recording results in the log and reporting changes.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
• Resolves unusual test orders by contacting physicians or labs and notifying supervisor.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional networks.
• Enhances department and hospital reputation by ownership for new requests and value additions.
• Works with PHI and has access to PHI in paper and electronic form.
• Completes HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training within 30 days of hire.
• Must maintain current status on Natera training requirements.
• Logistical management/printing of patient reports; Billing questions and triage; Scheduling courier pickups.
