Natera is seeking a Sr Phlebotomist to serve patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures.

This role requires a minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience and a High School Diploma, with state phlebotomy certification if required. The position is based in Friendship Heights NW, Washington DC, and is not remote.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
• Phlebotomy Certificate (if required by State)

Responsabilités

• Verify test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; report discrepancies to unit personnel.
• Verify patient by reading patient identification.
• Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic technique and department procedures.
• Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting collection times; maintain daily tallies.
• Maintain quality results by following procedures and recording results in the quality-control log.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with regulations.
• Resolve unusual test orders by contacting physicians and other staff; refer unresolved orders for clarification.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading publications.
• Enhance department and hospital reputation by ownership of new requests and value-adding actions.
• This role handles PHI regularly and requires HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training within 30 days of hire.
• Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
• Logistical management/printing of patient reports for that area.
• Billing question answering/triaging and follow-up with patients.
• Scheduling pickups from courier services.
