Job summary

Walgreens in Chicago is seeking a Pharmacy Technician within the Customer Experience and Operations scope. Under pharmacist supervision, you will assist in dispensing, verify medications, enter patient data, and support inventory and customer service activities.

Responsibilities include processing prescription orders, handling third-party claims, cash register duties, and assisting with clinical services coordination with healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or in locations where this role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement)

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Fills prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs and verifies medicine is correct.
• Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Processes manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner and performs clerical duties.
• Leads Pharmacy Department inventory management activities including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments.
• Analyzes and seeks to improve pharmacy financial, customer service and inventory performance data.
• May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services and coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Supports pickup program and maintains pharmacy area cleanliness and orderliness.
• Coaches technicians and cashiers in processes to drive efficiency.
• Complies with company policies; completes special assignments as needed.
• Maintains and updates knowledge of healthcare developments.
