Job summary

Ascension's Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX is hiring for an Inpatient Pharmacy Tech to join the Inpatient Pharmacy team. You will support pharmacists, handle automated dispensing systems, and ensure accurate medication distribution in a busy inpatient setting.

The role requires Texas Pharmacy Tech credentialing and a HIT with experience in IV workflow and regulatory compliance. The position is full-time, on-site at Seton Medical Center.

Qualifications

• Texas State Board of Pharmacy-credentialed Pharmacy Tech required prior to hire date
• Education options include High School diploma equivalency with 2 years experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years applicable experience
• Inpatient experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Audit and quality assurance sign-off with barcode scanning
• Oversee controlled substances and LTC/Medicare D billing adjudication
• Support automation technology: IV workflow, carousels, Pyxis cabinets; troubleshoot and assist with robotics
• Provide cross-training for buyers, OR satellite, and retail staff
• Monitor regulatory compliance and manage inventory and drug shortages

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Acquire clinical data to support Pharmacists. Coordinates special projects.
• Responsible for auditing, quality assurance sign off with barcode scanning, controlled substance oversight, and billing including, Long Term Care (LTC) billing and Medicare D claim adjudication.
• Serve as a resource for automation technology, training & involvement with IV workflow, carousels, Pyxis, automated dispensing cabinets, troubleshooting, compounding, and robotics.
• Provide advanced cross-training for dedicated buyers, staff, operating room satellite, and retail.
• May serve as pharmacist extender in situations such as Caregiver Model of the Future responsibilities. May monitor compliance with regulatory standards and be responsible for inventory and drug shortage management and optimization.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
