Job summary

JPI in San Diego, CA is seeking a Permit Lead to join our Design for Execution team. The role manages end-to-end permitting, interfaces with AHJs, and ensures timely approvals across multiple project types.

You will lead permit strategies, coordinate with design, engineering, and project teams, and maintain documentation to align with regulatory mandates. A degree in architecture or engineering and 5–10 years of permitting experience are required.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in permitting, zoning, planning, or regulatory coordination roles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture or Engineering.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end permitting process for assigned projects and track milestones.
• Engage with AHJ representatives and coordinate design responses.
• Clarify agency feedback and coordinate revisions to avoid rework.
• Develop workflows to speed permit documentation and approvals.
• Monitor deadlines and provide visibility to stakeholders.
• Maintain site plan and permit documents; liaise with municipalities.
