Job summary

J2 Engineers Inc. is seeking a senior civil engineer to lead design efforts, prepare plans, and supervise project teams. The role covers zoning, site development, storm drainage, water and sewer system design, and regulatory compliance.

You will prepare technical documents using Civil 3D/AutoCAD and mentor junior staff. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience, a BS in Civil Engineering, and strong teamwork, communication, and management skills, with a focus on delivering

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in all phases of services in planning, design, and management.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Exemplary teamwork, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of design and technical documents through all phases of projects.
• Prepare, plan, and develop project design elements including rezoning, entitlements, preliminary and site plans.
• Perform QA/QC of own work and the work of team members.
• Utilize working knowledge of VDOT, state, and local standards, policies, and procedures.
• Design and create technical documents in Civil 3D or AutoCAD using Carlson Design Software.
• Advance and lead planning studies, preliminary and final design production, and project permitting.
• Train and mentor new and junior staff members.
• Remain current with Local, State, and Federal design standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
