Job summary

VCA Code is seeking experienced, ICC Certified Permit Technicians to support a municipal Building & Safety department in Long Beach, CA. The role requires strong municipal permitting experience and the ability to adapt quickly to department procedures and systems, handling assignments promptly.

The position is onsite in Long Beach, CA, with 32–40 hours per week and tentative hours from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Flexibility is required to cover department needs, and a comprehensive benefits package is

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of permit processing and public counter operations.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, data entry, and multitasking abilities.
• Comfortable working in a large, fast-paced permit center.
• Able to quickly learn new procedures and permitting systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and courteous customer service at the public counter.
• Process permit applications and assist with permit-related questions.
• Collect fees, maintain records, and perform accurate data entry.
• Assist contractors, homeowners, applicants, and members of the public.
• Support daily Building & Safety permitting operations.
• Manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
• Work effectively with department staff and adapt to changing priorities.
